OCTOBER

Year 2 Visit to the Coventry Transport Museum

Year 2 had an amazing time at Coventry Transport Museum on Thursday! They looked at lots of different methods of transport and how they had changed over time. They saw the early model of a bicycle was made mostly of wood, had pedals on the front wheel and a place to rest your ankles over the handlebar! Year 2 decided that they preferred the bikes available nowadays! The children were beautifully behaved and were a credit to the school. Well done Year 2!

Tesco Sponsorship!

Great news! We have been sponsored by Tesco to provide quality fruit and vegetables for the children this academic year. This week we have provided apples, oranges and bananas for all the children including those in Key Stage 2 for free. The children have really enjoyed this week’s fruit and each week we will be able to introduce children to different varieties of fruit and vegetables which they can try if they wish. They will also be able to bring them home for you all to try as a family.

Year 3 visit to the Botanical Gardens

On Thursday Year 3 went to the Botanical Gardens to extend their learning about rainforests. They started off by learning more about what lives in the rainforest and even held some animals such as a corn snake, an African land snail and a cockroach. They then explored the gardens and glasshouses and found plants that grow in rainforests, such as: cassava, cacao and banana trees. It was wonderful day!

SEND Coffee Morning

Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended the SEND coffee morning on Wednesday. We were joined by professionals from Educational Psychology (EP), The Communication Autism Team (CAT), Pupil and School Support (PSS) and Occupational Therapy (OT). They all work with children with Special Educational Needs, as well as school staff, to improve provision and outcomes for these pupils. Parents were able to ask questions of the visitors about a number of SEND related issues and find out more about the work that they do.

The next SEND coffee morning will take place on Thursday 28th November and will be led by the CAT teacher. This will focus on emotional regulation for children with autism.

Harvest Festival

We have emailed a letter to all our families asking for donations for our Harvest Festival collection. We are always blown away by the generosity of our families and the number of donations we receive and look forward to being able to share that kindness with others on your behalf. Please send any non-perishable food donations into school next week to be donated to Birmingham City Mission.
