Remote Education
'Remote Education' is an umbrella term describing any learning that happens outside the classroom, without the class teacher being physically present. In the very unlikely circumstances that we have to close the whole school or a specific class, whole year group, then we will use Microsoft Teams as the platform for our digital remote education offer.
When will remote education be used?
Circumstances where it might not be possible for pupils to receive in person education fit into two broad categories:
1. School closures or restrictions on attendance, where school access for pupils is restricted;
2. Individual cases where a pupil is unable to attend school but is able to learn. This circumstance should only involve a short term absence and might include: pupils returning from short term infectious illnesses, pupils preparing for or recovering from some operations, or pupils recovering from injuries where attendance inhibit recovery. In some exceptional cases, these circumstances might also include pupils whose attendance has been affected by a special educational need or disability (SEND) or a mental health issue.
For a full or partial closure, we would use Microsoft Teams with a series of live lessons throughout the day led by teachers from our school.
